A Walk Through the Bible

Would you like to read the entire Bible from cover to cover?  And would you also like to share what you have discovered about God in His Word with others?

Here, at the Frederick SDA Church, we are giving everyone that opportunity.

Each Saturday morning, those who are reading through the Bible, get together as a group and share what we have found of God's character in His Word.

If you would like to join us in our Walk Through the Bible, we meet at 9:30 AM in the school Kindergarten room.

If you are unable to attend, we will post on this web site, each week, the next segment of the Bible that we are reading.

We welcome you!

Some reading essentials:

1.         Please, pray before reading your Bible.  Ask for God to guide your understanding.

2.         Read with a humble attitude.  God says that He will dwell with the contrite and humble.

3.         Be patient.  There will be things you may not understand.  That's O.K.  We are human.  God will open His wisdom to you at the right time.

4.         Don't give up!  There is too much at stake to stop reading God's Word.  It is life!

Some reading suggestions we have found helpful:

1.        Underline the parts that you like.

For example:

Get some four colored pens that are available at some superstores and office supply stores.  Also get a short flexible ruler.

If you see a promise like - "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want" - underline it in red.  You can easily spot it out later to give that extra strength you might need during a rough day at school or work.

If you see instructions like - "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord" - underline it in green.  It will help you find guidance in difficult decisions.

If you see an important statement like - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." - underline it in blue.  This is part of the wisdom that will help in understanding God's character and will help in developing your own good attitude.

2.         Write in your own helps.

Along the sides or at the bottom of a page write in references to other Bible verses that help you to understand.

For example:

"Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect."  Matthew 5:48

It could be helpful to write in along the side Luke 6:36.  "Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful."

3.         Mark verses that remind you of a song.

For example:

Put a musical note next to a verse that is in a song you know.  Then when you take a break during the day, you will be able to find an encouraging tune to hum as you work.

"I will make you fishers of men."  Matthew 4:19

"Ask, and it will be given to you..."  Matthew 7:7

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."  Romans 12:21

"You are my hiding place..."  Psalm 32:7

"For unto us a Child is born..."  Isaiah 9:6
